This is a handmade Chinese lacquer tea set of three: a host's cup (主人杯), a fair cup (公道杯) for even pouring, and a begonia-shaped tea caddy (茶叶罐) to keep the leaves close at hand, all finished in black and blue rhino skin lacquer (Xipi, 犀皮漆) with hints of red, from the Yi Series by HFDlacquerware (禾丰鼎).

The cup and fair cup are black porcelain, lacquered on the exterior only, so the interior stays plain and keeps the tea's true color and taste undisturbed. The tea caddy is made from solid Burma padauk (缅甸花梨) and echoes the same palette. In the Yi Series (low relief), the groundwork is built low, so the colors move together as flow rather than dramatic relief. The pattern is built mound by mound, then polished into view, so no two pieces, even within the same set, ever turn out alike.

This is a set for those who treat tea as a ritual, not just a drink: the kind of person who slows down for the pour, and notices the cup in their hand as much as what's in it. It is made for steeping puerh alone in the morning, hosting a proper gongfu session, or sharing oolong with guests across the table.

Buy each piece on its own, or save with the complete set of three — a meaningful gift for tea lovers, collectors of Chinese lacquerware, or anyone marking a milestone. Each piece arrives in its own gift box, ready to give as is.
