This is a handmade Chinese lacquer fair cup (公道杯), finished outside in black-and-blue rhino skin lacquer (Xipi, 犀皮漆) with a trace of red, over a black porcelain body, from the Yi Series by HFDlacquerware (禾丰鼎). At 2.8" across and 3.5" tall, it pours tea evenly for every guest in a gongfu session. The interior stays plain, keeping the tea's true color and taste. It arrives in its own gift box. In the Yi Series (low relief), the groundwork is built low, so the colors move together as flow rather than dramatic relief. The pattern is built mound by mound, then polished into view, so no two pieces are alike. It makes a meaningful gift for tea lovers and collectors of Chinese lacquerware.
