These are handmade Chinese lacquer dangle earrings with a round pendant carved from golden nanmu (金丝楠木), finished in deep blue ice-crackle lacquer (冰裂纹) with a weathered gold-grain pattern, by HFDlacquerware (禾丰鼎).At 1.26" (3.2 cm) across, with gold-plated ear wires, they are light enough for all-day wear.
Each pair takes three to four months to complete by hand. The fine crackle forms naturally as the lacquer layers dry and settle, so no two pairs are ever alike. Small, wearable, and easy to give, they make a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves Chinese craft.
Ice-crackle is the look of a frozen lake just before spring: surface lines running every direction, deep blue underneath, and a little gold catching the light.
