This Rhino Skin (Xipi) Lacquer Vase is entirely handcrafted using traditional Chinese Urushi lacquer techniques passed down through generations of artisans. Dozens of layers of raw natural lacquer are applied by hand onto a solid wood base, with each layer requiring days to cure naturally before the next can be added — a process that takes over a year to complete from start to finish.
 
The vase is then meticulously polished to reveal its signature "rhino skin" texture — a mottled, richly layered surface that catches light differently from every angle.
