This xipi lacquer tobacco pipe showcases the traditional Chinese "rhino skin" (Xipi) lacquer technique — dozens of layers of raw natural lacquer are hand-applied and built up unevenly, then ground and polished to reveal a richly mottled, textured surface that resembles aged rhino hide. Both bowl and stem are crafted from natural ebony wood finished entirely in hand-applied raw Urushi lacquer.
 
Because each Xipi pattern forms naturally through the hand-layering process, no two pipes are exactly alike — every piece carries its own unique texture and depth.
 
Care Instructions
Allow the pipe to rest for a day between smokes to prevent overheating.  Clean the bowl and stem regularly with a pipe cleaner.
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth; avoid solvents or harsh chemicals which can damage the lacquer finish.
Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.
