This Poker-shape tobacco pipe is built on a solid ebony wood body, then finished using traditional Chinese raw lacquer (Urushi) techniques: a hemp-cloth and ground layer (guahui) is hand-applied to the surface before being hand-wiped with multiple coats of raw natural lacquer. The result is a deep, smooth, and durable finish that develops character with use — a world apart from a standard sprayed or painted pipe.
